Learn And Earn

Jam and Jing joined a wholesale company together just after graduation. Both worked very hard.

After several years, the boss promoted Jing to sales executive but Jam remained a sales representative. One day Jam could not take it anymore and tendered his resignation to the boss and complained to the boss that he did not value hard working staff, but only promoted those who flattered him.

The boss knew that Jam worked very hard, but in order to help Jam to realize the difference between him and Jing, the boss asked Jam to do the following. “Go and find out if anyone is selling watermelon in the market?” Jam returned and said, “Yes.” The boss asked, “How much per kg?” Jam went back to the market to ask and returned to inform the boss that it was Rs.12/- per kg.

The boss told Jam, I will ask Jing the same question. Jing went, returned and said, “Boss, only one person selling watermelon. Rs.12/- per kg, Rs.100/- for 10 kgs, he has an inventory of 340 melons. On the table 58 melons, every melon weighs about 15 kgs, bought from the South two days ago, they are fresh, red and good quality.”

Jam was very impressed and realized that difference between himself and Jing. He decided not to resign but to learn from Jing.
